We're all fat cause we eat bon bons right?

I find it quite amusing that when people find out you are losing weight, or on a diet they are FULL of advice for you... as if you have NEVER heard of this before and have no clue what the "right" way to lose weight is. Naturally thin people must assume we dont know, cause if we did... we wouldnt be fat right?? So, we must sit around and eat junk food all day... thats why we are fat right??

It couldnt possibly be that this "fat person" has done it the right way, and it just doesnt work. Yeah it works for you, cause you weigh 120 soaking wet... If your biggest "fat size" was smaller than my "skinniest" size there obviously is a difference.

GENETICS..... aaaaaaaaaaaah yes... Some of us are DOOMED to be fat, no matter what we do. YES we can fight it, and live our lives barely eating, and spending every waking moment exercising, but chances are... we will ALWAYS be a bit plump.

You can tell someone who is naturally skinny, from someone who has weight issues simply by how skinny they are. A person who is genetically predispositioned to be overweight, will always be a bit plumper than their peers... whereas those who are a bit fluffy cause they dont work out, and eat a bit too much pizza, can quickly drop it and be as thin as a dancer.

Im ecstatic that exercising and eating healthy worked for you... well guess what? It didnt work for me... Its my turn to find something that works for ME!!!!! So how about a little support?? ;)

  1. Great post! PLain diet and exercise never worked for me or my mom either. And, in my experience, fat people know A LOT more about nutrition and exercise than skinny people. I had one skinny friend who insisted vodka had no calories! What?!?!? I WISH!!!!

Well, as you know my mom finally went to the drastic measure of having lapband surgery and was able to take off and keep off 100 pounds which is amazing, but she is still plump at 200 pounds. A ton healthier, though. I went to the same drastic measures, but plateaued after losing 50. But, heck, a plateau for me is still a success in my book because my body just does not like to stay the same weight. If I'm not working on the diet and exercise HARD, I used to gain. The band makes it though so you just arent hungry much and its easy to eat only 1200 cals per day. But can you believe I was eating that low and exercising regularly and still plateaued.

Then the Dr found out I have developed hypothyroidism in the past 6 months since I plateaued. And, I'm just thinking damn my body will figure out a way to be fat one way or another! Its like I lost that 50 and my body went oh no no no, lets screw with your thyroid now. But, I'm happy to say I'm on thyroid med now and the weight is starting to come off again.

Anyway, long long response, but just want you to know that at least I get you. For some of us, our weight will be the battle of a lifetime. And, its hard because you wear it on the outside. Everyone has issues and personal battles, but its just not out there for the whole world to scrutinize.

Love Ya and hang in there!

  2. I didnt even know I had a comment on here. ;) thats great your mom did so well with that!!
My body also likes to fight me, I lose but always gain back to the same weight. I never go higher, but I always end up back at it unless I fight and fight. I also have a thyroid issue, though not officially hypothyroidism... I have hashimotos thryroiditus, which is an autoimmune disease where your body basically attacks your thyroid. I am on synthroid, but have been the past year, and have still been struggling with losing (until I started medifast) so I hear ya!!!!
    Hugs!!!
